Critical Illness insurance is available to anyone under the age of 65 who has no history of serious illness. It provides a substantial lump sum tax free benefit upon the diagnosis of a heart attack, cancer, stroke, or one of several other conditions. This benefit is paid out 30 days after diagnosis and in the event that death occurs before the 30 day waiting period is satisfied, the premiums that have been paid into the policy are refunded to the estate.
